A walk through Laleston’s heritage

A self-guided heritage trail through the historic centre of Laleston — listed buildings, historic sites, and the Council’s contribution to interpreting Laleston’s built heritage for residents and visitors.

Laleston Stones Trail signpost

Stops include St David’s Church (Grade I listed, 13th century, restored 1871 by John Prichard), the historic schoolhouse (Grade II), the Old Pound at Llangewydd (Grade II), and Laleston Village Well — one of the oldest recorded wells in Wales. Approximately 2km · estimated 45 minutes.

The trail is built around several officially listed buildings and locally significant sites. The classifications come from Cadw, the Welsh Government’s historic environment service.

The trail can be walked in either direction from the village centre. A printed leaflet is in development; in the meantime, the route follows the signposted Stones Trail markers through Laleston.

The Stones Trail was developed by the Council in partnership with local heritage volunteers, with input from Bridgend County Borough Council’s heritage team. It celebrates the architectural and historical character of Laleston village.
