Making our website accessible to everyone

This accessibility statement applies to https://lalestoncommunitycouncil.gov.uk.

This statement applies to the website lalestoncommunitycouncil.gov.uk, operated by Laleston Community Council. The Council is committed to making its website accessible, in line with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (PSBAR).

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 AA, because of the non-compliances listed below.

What we’ve done to make this site accessible

  • The site uses semantic HTML headings, landmarks and lists
  • Colour contrast meets WCAG 2.2 AA on body text and most interactive elements
  • Keyboard navigation works on all interactive elements
  • Focus states are visible
  • Images include text alternatives where they convey meaning
  • The site is responsive and works on mobile devices

Non-accessible content

Some historical PDF documents (older agendas, minutes and financial documents) are not fully tagged for accessibility. We consider that remediating the full historical document archive would impose a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. Where you need any of these documents in an accessible format, please contact the Council’s Office Manager at OM@lalestoncommunitycouncil.gov.uk and we will provide an accessible version. This statement was prepared on 2 July 2026 and cites the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (SI 2018/952).

  • Current statutory documents on this website (current Annual Report, current AGAR, Standing Orders, Members’ Code of Conduct, Section 6 Biodiversity Report, Financial Regulations, Publication Scheme) are being progressively remediated to meet WCAG 2.2 AA where they are not already tagged.
  • All new agendas, minutes and reports produced from May 2026 onwards use accessible Microsoft Word templates and are saved as tagged PDFs from creation. The templates are available on the Documents page.
  • Embedded third-party content: Maps, social media embeds, and external service widgets may not be fully accessible. The Council does not control the accessibility of third-party content.
