2. Implementation of the Sub-Committee

Following a Community Council meeting that took place on Thursday 15th December, 2017 in which the meeting was suspended due to Laleston Allotment Tenants being in attendance, a spokesperson for the tenants confirmed that the Allotments Committee Members and tenants were dissatisfied with the proposed price rental increase for 2018as well as other services from the Community Council.

3. Allotment Tenants Concerns and Comments

The following concerns and comments arising from the Council meeting held on 15thDecember, 2016, were as follows:-

• The proposed review of rental fees from the Council, due to the fees not having changed since before 1999. Council proposed that the rents be increased from £5 for a half plot to £25, and £10 for a full plot to £50.

It was proposed by the sub-committee that Council increase the rents for 2018 based on the track rate of inflation since 1999 which will result in the rental of a full plot to be £16 and a half plot to £8 per annum.

RESOLVED: That this be approved by Council on 19th January, 2017

• Tenants stated that they were being responsible for the cutting and maintain of the hedges within the Allotments. Cllr Briony Davies confirmed that a few years ago tenants approached the Council to do this in which Council confirmed that they were happy for the tenants to cut back the hedges and provided them with a hedge cutter for this purpose.

It was therefore proposed that the Council agree to re-instate a contractor if the tenants were not happy to continue.

RESOLVED: That this be approved by Council on 19th January, 2017.

• Tenants stated that the site had no toilet facilities.

Is was therefore proposed that a key be given for the Blandy Hall to the Committee for safe keeping and use of the toilet facilities.

RESOLVED: That this be approved by Council on 19th January, 2017.

• Tenants stated that they were concerned regarding the security at the allotments as they believed that some items had been stolen.

It was proposed that a combination lock be purchased by the Council for use on the main gate.

RESOLVED: That this be approved by Council on 19th January, 2017.
